If you are shopping for new pallets, something has probably been refused already: a load turned away at a receiving dock, a pallet that stopped an automated line, a QA hold on product that sat on stained wood. Somebody else wrote a requirement, and the pallet has to meet it on every delivery.

That changes how the order should be placed. The word "new" leaves size, construction and treatment open, and those are the details a receiver checks. We supply new pallets in Orange County on trucks that already run the I-5 and the 57 Freeway, and the orders that go smoothly arrive as a specification, not as an adjective.

What "New" Has to Guarantee

A new pallet has no history. That is the whole value of it.

No earlier loads, no board swapped out along the way, no stamp rubbed thin by years of handling. That missing history buys three things:

  • The same dimensions lot after lot. One spec, so the delivery in spring matches the delivery in fall.
  • Known condition. No broken or missing boards, no staining, all nine blocks intact.
  • Treatment you can trace. On a heat treated order, the stamp is fresh and refers to the wood actually in the pallet.

What it does not guarantee is fit. A new pallet in the wrong footprint still gets refused. Every pallet is inspected before it leaves our yard, but an inspection checks the pallet against the order, so the order has to say the right thing. Price is a separate question, which we worked through in recycled versus new pallet costs.

Four Orange County Operations That Cannot Run on Mixed Pallets

A request for new pallets in Orange County usually traces back to one of four requirements.

Automated and High-Bay Storage

Conveyors, shuttles and cranes do not adjust for a pallet that is slightly out of square. They stop. Block construction is better suited to automated racking and high-bay storage than stringer construction, and new stock keeps the dimensions consistent from one delivery to the next. The detail is in our piece on pallet requirements for automated warehouses.

Irvine Pharmaceutical, Medical Device and Electronics Shippers

A QA department in the Irvine Business Complex or the Spectrum area tends to ask one question about a pallet: where has it been? With mixed used wood, nobody can answer. New wood has carried nothing and brings no residue from an earlier load into a clean manufacturing area.

Exporters Who Need a Legible HT Stamp

Wood packaging that crosses a border falls under ISPM-15: the core of the wood held at 56C (132.8F) for at least 30 continuous minutes, then the IPPC mark with the HT code on two opposite sides. A stamp that is worn off, painted over or unreadable may be treated as non-compliant at destination, and a stamp is no longer valid once any component has been replaced with untreated wood. Freshly built heat treated ISPM-15 pallets carry neither risk.

Suppliers to Major Retail and Grocery Chains

Major retail and grocery chains set pallet requirements for inbound freight. The condition that satisfies them is like-new: no broken or missing boards, no significant staining, every block intact. On mixed pallets, each load rides on the worst pallet in the stack.

Writing the Spec: Five Lines for Your Purchase Order

Five lines cover nearly every order of new pallets for Orange County. Copy them and fill them in.

Size and Construction

  1. Size. New 48x40 pallets unless your product says otherwise. They load two across in a 53-foot trailer and fit standard warehouse racking. Stock alternatives include 36x36 for electronics and small parts and 48x42 for automotive parts.
  2. Construction. Write "block pallet, 9 blocks, 4-way entry." Our standard block pallets in 48x40 weigh 33-48 lbs, with a dynamic safe working limit of about 2,500 lbs and a static capacity of 2,500-4,600 lbs, the figure varying by grade. If your unit loads run near those figures, read our breakdown of pallet load ratings before you sign off.

Treatment

  1. HT: yes or no. Heat treatment is available on all standard and custom sizes. If only part of your output is exported, order that share as HT and store it apart. Untreated dunnage or bracing added to a compliant pallet can get the entire shipment flagged.

Quantity Tier and Delivery Cadence

  1. Quantity. State monthly usage, not just the first order. Pricing is quote-based in three tiers: retail under 50, wholesale at 100 or more, high-volume at 500 or more.
  2. Cadence. Weekly, biweekly or monthly. Add receiving hours and whether the dock can take a flatbed, the standard truck for large orders.

When a Standard 48x40 Is Not the Answer

Custom Dimensions and Reinforced Builds

Take a Santa Ana food distributor whose case will not tile onto a 48x40 without overhang. The fix is a custom new pallet built to the case. We build custom size pallets at our Los Angeles yard, from small 12x12 platforms up to 96x48 and larger, with thicker deck boards, additional blocks or hardwood lumber when the load is heavy. There is no strict minimum, so a single prototype is a sensible first order: run it through your own line, then release the quantity. Lead times are in the table above, and a rush build is often possible.

When Plastic Beats New Wood

Some requirements rule out wood no matter how new it is. If your process calls for a pallet that can be pressure-washed and sanitized, that means a non-porous HDPE or polypropylene surface, with no nails, no splinters and a weight that does not shift with moisture. Plastic pallets are also exempt from ISPM-15. The trade-off is unit cost, several times that of wood, which pays back in a closed loop where the same pallets return trip after trip. If your pallets leave with the product and never come back, new wood pallets are usually the better value.

Delivery Into Orange County: Volume, Cadence and the 100-Pallet Line

Every order of new pallets for Orange County leaves our South Los Angeles yard on our own trucks, down the I-5 and the 57 Freeway. Anaheim and Fullerton are under an hour out; Irvine and Lake Forest sit slightly further. How the order is sized matters more than where it lands:

Order pattern What it means
Under 100 pallets Modest delivery fee based on distance
100 or more No delivery charge anywhere in the county; wholesale tier
Scheduled weekly, biweekly or monthly Recurring customers get better pricing
Rush or same-day Available; may carry a small premium

If your usage sits just under the line, ask us to quote it both ways: smaller, more frequent drops with the fee, or fewer deliveries of 100 or more without it. Floor space usually decides. Quotes are given as total delivered cost with no hidden fees, in English or Spanish, Monday through Saturday from 6:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Our earlier piece maps what each Orange County sub-market orders.

A quote for new pallets in Orange County needs five lines and a delivery address. Nothing else.
